The installation Ryggvirvelskog emerges from research into evolutionary biology and the shared traits found across divergent species. Sharks develop growth rings within their vertebrae that mirror the annual growth rings found in trees and both serve as biological archives, recording time, environmental shifts, and age. By translating these marine anatomical forms into wood and placing them within a woodland setting, the work reaffirms the biological parallels between land and sea, highlighting a shared evolutionary language.
