POST-OP PRINTS + PAINTINGS
This series was created using the serous fluid that drained from my chest following gender affirming top surgery. The screenprinted images, printed by August Schultz, are photographs I’ve taken over the years, including some archival images, of subjects I consider near and dear to me. These images include both of my grandfathers, the landscape, and the embracement of loved ones. The paintings were made immediately following surgery during my recovery period and include self-portraits, text, and abstractions that speak to the body and restriction.
